Chyavanaprasha is a herbal jam (lehyam), prepared to the formula recorded in Charaka Samhita Chikitsasthana 1.1.
Classically it is a restorative, given where strength and appetite have fallen away after a long illness or a hard season. Its named constituents include guduchi, amla, bala, punarnava.
