The key ingredient of Haridrakandam is turmeric. Its other ingredients include cow ghee, milk, and sugar candy, which are heated to a semi-solid mass after which pepper, cardamom, Cinnamomum Tamala, Embelia Ribes, Operculina Turpethum, Haritaki, Vibhitaki and Amla, Mesua ferrea, Cyperus Rotundus and Lauha bhasma are added to it.
The various healing properties of Haridrakandam anti-allergic, anti-histaminic and anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-pruritic, make it an effective product. Haridrakandam can be used to treat all skin conditions having the following symptoms hives, inflammation, leaking fluid from the skin, small but raised bumps on the skin, itching, foul odor of the skin due to some underlying disease and swollen skin.
The product also improves complexion and quality of the skin. Haridrakandam finds use in various conditions of the skin such as Kandu Itching skin and pruritis, Visphota blisters, Dadu fungal skin infections, Sheetapitta, Kotha allergic skin conditions and hives, Udarda skin diseases due to contact with cold objects and also during chronic fever and anemia.
