Best Herbal Shampoo for Repairing Dry & Damaged Hair Naturally

I’m someone who alternates between salon treatments and home care. On days when I’m not doing the heavy treatment I use this Kairali Aloe Vera Herbal Shampoo. It gives me a good reset without harshness. It’s gentler on my colour-treated hair and I don’t feel like I’m stripping out all the colour. After rinsing, the hair doesn’t feel stiff but more relaxed. The only thing I’d improve? I wish the bottle size came with a little pump or nicer dispenser for ease in the shower. But that's a small nit-pick.

I’m typically pretty skeptical about “herbal” labels, because sometimes they mean “less performance”. But this one surprised me. After using it a month I like the way my hair looks—less frizz, a bit more shine, and I feel like it’s easier to style (even just loose waves) because the hair feels smoother. The scent is subtle which is a plus for me. I will say: if you’re switching from a heavy sulphate shampoo, it might take a week or so to adjust—your scalp may feel slightly different at first.

One thing that really stood out for me is that my scalp hasn’t felt as itchy or flaky after switching to this shampoo. I did have some mild dandruff patches and although I wouldn’t say they’re completely gone, they’re much less frequent. The aloe vera & amla combo seems to be working. The bottle says it’s for “dry and damaged hair" which is exactly what I have, so I feel like I chose wisely.

My hair tends to get flat and lank by mid-day, especially when I’m working from home and sitting in front of a screen for many hours. I now use this shampoo about 2-3 times a week and I feel like the texture of my hair has improved: there’s a little more body, less of that limp “after-wash” feel. Also, I noticed less breakage when combing. On the flip side: it doesn’t create a ton of foam (which I’ve come to realise is fine) so if you’re someone who expects a super foamy shampoo you might think it’s mild. But I like that it feels gentler.

I picked up this shampoo a few weeks ago because my hair had been feeling dry and brittle, especially at the ends, and I was curious about trying something herbal. After about two uses of the this shampoo, I noticed my scalp felt less tight, and the hair seemed a bit softer to the touch. I still follow up with a conditioner, but the shampoo itself has a pleasant scent, mild and herbal, and doesn’t leave that heavy film you sometimes get with more chemical-shampoos. Overall, it’s doing a nice job of making my hair feel calmer.
